it's a
sad day in the neighborhood...
did you know that mr. rogers's mother used to knit all the sweaters he wore on the show?
i've been beset by a wee case of insomnia. any suggestions?
i'm exercising and abstaining from caffeine until i get at least 6 hours...
well, we were snowed in for a few days...at least, as snowed in as you can get in the piedmont of north carolina. the roads are driveable, but dangerous, so people tend to stay home if possible. the temperatures rose above freezing today and turned everything to slush, so i'm going to attempt to unearth my car again. i keep saying i ought to have an ice scraper, but by february, it seems a little late when i've made do so far...
as a historian of sorts, of course i'm interested in what originally made this day a holiday...
history of valentine's day
not like it used to be
origins of valentine's day
so where exactly do mom's heart shaped meatloaves and pink mashed potatoes come in?
highlight of the weekend?
eddie from ohio, without a doubt -- the indie folk-rock band nearest to my heart at the moment, purely because they put on such a great show on saturday. it was the kind of show that flies by, makes you laugh so hard, and then disappoints you a little because it's over. they included some of my favorite songs (though, sadly, not
loitering in the lobby or
maylee, so i'll have to try to see them again, i guess), as well as a few new ones from their double-live album, three rooms, that gets released tomorrow. but the highlight of the show? it had to be eddie's kickin' percussion solo. whew! spontaneous ovation.
i spent part of this morning changing the layout of my
craft blog and moving it to this site in an attempt to consolidate some of my piddly little web-blips into a slightly more cohesive web presence. (that sounds a little pretentious, doesn't it? web presence...) it's only linked
here for now, since the projects page isn't fully up. plus i'm not sure if it will ultimately stay or find a new home.
lesson of the weekend:
platform heels -- not just a fashion statement. also very handy for retrieving hard-to-reach objects.
it's an absolutely gorgeous 72 degrees oustide today! on february 3! that
punxsutawney phil is a big fat liar. so what exactly am i doing at work today? i ought to be outside working on the early stages of skin cancer. but i guess i should be glad for work while i have it, eh?
