good news ... i'm finally back from what ended up being an almost week-long weekend trip to the carolinas. thanks to all of those kind souls who gave me shelter from the ice and snow and helped me get my little saturn backed out of their frozen driveways :) it was good to see everyone in greenville, winston, and davidson, and i wish everyone a happy thaw.
ok, it looks like i'm stranded at furman until at least tomorrow. but lots of fun to be had here. movies, cookies, and game night...
meanwhile, check out jessie's roommate's site at
jordanteague.com.
and last but not least...
kindagrape.com turns 1 year old today!
well, the show last night at carpenter's cellar was awesome. jessie and jordan and lindsay did a great job, all trying out some new songs and methods of playing their instruments for a packed house.
right now, i'm trying to figure out if the weather will be ok for me to get to charlotte tomorrow, or if i'll be stuck in greenville until everything gets warm on tuesday. things are looking good right now, but the forecast keeps changing on the hour...
i got a call thursday night from the jessie, saying, "i'm playing again this weekend, want to come up?". and so, having nothing else pressing this weekend, i loaded up my car and drove up yesterday. luckily for us,
eddie from ohio was playing last night in greenville, so we took in a rocking show at the handlebar. i think the jess is now a convert...
hey, and i've got some audio and video tracks of jessie's recent mainstage up on her page,
here.
yesterday, my mom and i spent a foot-aching eight hours at rennigers for the three-times-a-year antique extravaganza. we're talking thousands upon thousands of vendors, and more depression-era glass and old woodworking tools than you would otherwise see in a lifetime. and tons of fun! we spent the most time talking to mom's favorite vendors about old dr. pepper bottles, tiny metal tins, and print ads, and came away learning so much. we also got a few little fun items, one of the best being an old mickey mouse ramp walker toy that's way more than 50 years old for only $2. It wasn't until later that we saw the © w.d.p. that proved it was indeed mickey, and thus quite a steal. but my feet will probably have to rest up until next year...
well, the jessie's performance this weekend was amazing. it's so cool to see my (formerly) shy little sister perform in front of so many people. continually blows my mind. she and jordan covered several classics numbers (including "hotel california") with some guest performances by their friends ryan and lindsey, as well as some rocking original pieces. i've got a few
photos up, but hope to have more soon...and possibly a video clip? cross your fingers for me...
meanwhile, the job search inches along (or perhaps in this case, centimeters along).
i had a nice little visit this week from north carolina friends, but feel like i ate way too much food. and the dog insisted on barking us awake every morning at 7:30. perhaps i'll be able to get some sleep this weekend while we're up visiting jessie at furman for her mainstage show. i'll post some photos of the performance when we get back to florida...
