A lovely Thanksgiving in Cashiers, NC with family and puppies (doe a 135 lb. rottweiler count as a puppy?). Remind me sometime to tell you about the pumpkin custard pie...

We're getting ready for Christmas in Davidson at work this week (wed, thurs, and fri nights), so I'm preparing for things to be insane, and hoping that I won't be too tired come Wednesday night. Our gallery is sponsoring an art auction, so I'm trying to get a piece ready for that, as well as work out logistics for bidding and stuff. Whew! It'll be fun, though.

Now that I'm starting to settle into the house, I've finally found some swatches of time (in between visitors!) to work on the projects specific to the house. Round II of curtain making has begun, and soon to follow will be a cover for my slightly stained, but comfy, comforter. No time tonight, though, because I just realized that I have to go to the Lake Norman Art League meeting after work...and then do laundry. It's a good thing I don't have cable yet, or I'd really have a full schedule!

I've been reading The World of Caffeine: the Science and Culture of the World's Most Popular Drug for the past few days, and I'm finding that I've been imbibing much much more tea and coffee than usual...pretty much non-stop. The power of suggestion is just too strong to resist. Trying desperately to switch to herbal or decaf after dinner to make the whole sleep thing a little easier...

My bed is here! And my curtains! And my fridge! Oh, yeah, and Dad too :) It's soooo nice to be finally settling in, and he's been a big help. I can't decide if the best part is that my fleece-lined curtains totally block all light or that I have a place to put my magnets...

Dad's driving up today to bring me the last of my stuff. Yay! And the house is pretty much ready to move in. I've got curtains up in my room, so that I won't be awakened at 7 am by the sun unless I want to be (which is pretty much never). And so the hopefully-not-too-long process of unpacking and setting up can begin. Finally...
