Happy birthday, Mom! So glad you got to be here to celebrate!

Philadelphia was surprisingly fun. Despite the fact that I really didn't feel like going when I got up on Friday, it turned out to be a good trip. Especially because the show was so small that a lot of the time was free for me to do what I liked. Which turned out to include a wonderful visit to the Philly Museum of Art, the requisite trip to H&M, and a surprisingly informative tour of Independence Hall (in which the park ranger bored the kids in the group to death with tirades about myths in American History and the state of democracy in Britain vs. in the US...and I was cheering inside). And even though the huge Dali exhibit at the museum was sold out again, I had a nice little commune with the cubists...

But getting in at 2am last night has worn me out, so I think I'll spend the day watching Six Feet Under and reading outside in the lovely sunshine.

Happy Birthday G'mama!
Thursday, April 14, 2005

Well, it turns out that I'll be training up to Philly this weekend after all...should be fun, I think. The show will be much smaller than the last, and so it should be a pretty leisurely time.

I told mom I'd post pictures of my house so she could see it, so after far too long, they are here. Of course, she'll be coming to visit in a couple of weeks, so it doesn't really matter. The Jessie might join us for part of the weekend, and possibly mom's sister as well, so it'll be quite the party.

I had a nice visit from my friend Becky last night, and she got a life-giving dose of Davidson before going down to Athens for a vet school interview. We got to talking about having a plan (or rather, the lack of one), and came to the conclusion that, with only a few exceptions, most people we know are doing whatever they're doing until they figure out what their plan is. Some just know what their distraction will be for the next few years, and some will have their tentative plans pan out into full-fledged careers -- mostly without them meaning to. I guess that makes me less worried about my own situation for the moment. After all, as Jan used to say, you should just pick something, and if it doesn't work for you, pick something else.

Meanwhile, the possibility looms that I might be going up to Philly next weekend for a furniture show...I think I find out on Tuesday.
