My dear friend and college roommate's family has had tragedy strike last week. Her brother was killed in a carjacking, and circumstances surrouning it are just horrible. I keep wanting to write something meaningful about it, but really I find that, once again, words seem like a poor substitute for thoughts. But I send my love out to their whole family on many many levels...

The Jess and I just got back from DC last night. The concert on Wednesday was SO good! Ben was not so chatty as I would have preferred, but made up for it several times over by playing "Philosophy". I figured it would be mostly new stuff, and probably all solo stuff (which is perfectly fine, by the way), but part of me really really hoped he would play a song or two from the Five days, and, bless him, he played the very one I was hoping for. Rufus, on the other hand, was quite chatty...and played quite a lot of guitar. Would've like some more piano bits from him, but I suppose that the guitar fits the lopier feel of his newer stuff better. Best segue ever: "That song had some French in it, and this one...doesn't."
