
Asian Slaw
Serves 8-12
Ingredients
- 1 bag coleslaw mix
- 1 bag broccoli slaw
- 4 or 5 green onions, trimmed and sliced
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 unsalted sunflower seeds
- 2/3 cup slivered almonds
- 1/2 Tablespoon butter
- 1/4 cup canola or safflower oil
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 3 Tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 Tablespoons white or rice vinegar
- 2 Tablespoons grated fresh ginger
- 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon dry English mustard (or whatever you have on hand)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Directions
- Heat butter in small skilled over medium heat and add slivered almonds, stirring occasionally until toasted.
- Mix slaws, onions, toasted almonds, and sunflower seeds in a large bowl.
- Whisk together remaining ingredients in small bowl and pour over slaw mixture. Toss well to coat.
- Refridgerate 20-30 minutes to develop flavors (optional). Toss again before serving.
