Crock Pot Split Pea Soup

This is great on a cold and rainy day. Just stick it all in the pot in the morning, and it's ready for dinner.
Serves 6

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. dried split peas
  • 2 oz. shaved ham
  • 3 pints water
  • 1 pint chicken broth
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Rinse dried peas in cold water.
  2. If desired, brown ham in skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add all ingredients to the crock pot and cook on low for 8 hours.
  4. Serve with warm, toasty bread. Yum.
